It was all hands on deck for the Intercruises Asia team last weekend, during a sizeable double call in Singapore. The team handled the turnaround and shorex operations for both Ovation of the Seas and Genting Dreams – a day which saw the embarkation and debarkation of around 17,500 passengers!
Due to the unusually-high number of guests (and a delay with one of the ship’s ETAs), more staffing was required with very little notice. Several members from the Singapore office offered their support, including the entire Finance team, Compliance team, and various other colleagues from the Pacific World and Destination Management teams. Despite many of them being in very unfamiliar territory, it wasn’t long before the newcomers were confidently checking-in and ushering up the thousands in the terminal, and having “a day at the office” like never before!
Here’s what some of them had to say!
“It was very interesting! Totally different from our finance work spending our whole day facing numbers. Thanks Intercruises for giving us the opportunity to understand the operations!”
Eunice Chan (Finance)
“Thanks for the opportunity to learn at MBCC. The team was great and it was a great experience for me personally. Luckily I have strong legs! I initially started with check in and ended up helping with ushering for both ships!”
Gina Lim (Pacific World)
“It was a new experience. A little unclear at first but it got better after completing a couple of check-ins. There were people around to assist as well whenever we encounter any difficulties.”
Wei Long (Pacific World)
“Overall, it was an enjoyable experience – largely because we were guided properly on the processes. We definitely learned a lot about visas!! We certainly learned more about the industry, especially regarding processes and chain of command!”
Cassandra Chong (DM Product)
Well done to the teams for a very special and successful operation!
