Members of the Port Everglades Management team were recently invited to participate in a “Bleeding Control for the Injured” training program at the Broward Sheriff’s Office Fire Rescue in Fort Lauderdale.

The three-hour program is available for port staff and locals until November 2018 and aims to provide civilians with the knowledge and ability to treat others or themselves during an emergency situation in which blood is involved.

It covers basic hemorrhage control skills including, tourniquet application, pressure bandages, chest seals and wound packing techniques. It also includes how to use the new “B-Con” kits that are due to be installed in cruise terminals and other public buildings in the near future.
