On March 13-14th, Rosa Planas (Health and Safety Executive), joined the annual workshop for the Family Assistance Foundation – an organization that aims to support and improve business and industry responses to emergencies and disasters. This year, the workshop focused on preparation, training and exercising during the first few hours of a crisis.

This workshop allowed Rosa to meet people from different cruise lines, such as Frank Sansone, (Vice President, Silversea Cruises); Gillian Attrill (Care Team, Carnival UK); Sissi Tursi (Care Team Coordinator, Costa Crociere) and Benedetto Tanzilli (Crisis Management Consultant, MSC Cruises). This event also gave Rosa the chance to discuss best practices and challenges faced in a Care Team strategy. Other attendees of the workshop included airline representatives, law enforcement agents and even survivors who shared their experiences and points of view.
Rosa said: “These two days definitely served to establish connections and talk about possible future collaborations with some of the attendees. During the event, we heard first-hand from survivors from various tragedies such as the Fort Lauderdale shooting (an event that affected some of the Intercruises staff last year), the Costa Concordia and the attacks in Tunisia. This experience was extremely helpful for being able to understand the victims and what goes through their heads during a time of crisis. I came back to the office full of new ideas and valuable information we will surely put into practice in future projects.”
