The Intercruises Southampton and Barcelona teams welcomed the world’s largest cruise ship, the Harmony of the Seas, last week. As technologically advanced as it is big, Intercruises pier staff were given additional training to use generational check-in systems.

Southampton Harmony of the Seas Report

The Intercruises Southampton team handled a number of calls for the Harmony during her twelve day stay; the first of which saw a check-in operation for over 700 contractors for the ship. The second call saw more that 4000 specially invited guests board and explore the ship for the first time. The team performed two more pre-tester cruise boardings, with 4500 & 5000 guests respectively, each being carried out without delays or incident.

The big test came on May 29th when the team handled the first ever revenue turnaround call before departing for Barcelona (see below), which saw another flawless Intercruises performance with over 5300 being checked-in and the ship leaving on time.

Barcelona Harmony of the Seas Report

At 362.12 meters in length, the Harmony of the Seas utilized two terminals during her two calls (Media/VIP and first revenue call) in Barcelona. The inaugural call had a total of 3600 guests being checked-in, comprising of travel agents, media and VIPs.

The second call was the first revenue call for the ship in Barcelona and a  had a total 5600 guests on board. This operation was delivered in tandem with the Brilliance of the Seas calling Barcelona, which resulted in Mediterranean team and the Global Platform drawing on Intercruises global resources to coordinate both calls seamlessly. Sonia Lokossou from the Southampton team journeyed to Barcelona to share her insights gained from handling the Harmony in Southampton the week earlier.
