In early December, UK Product Executive, Charlotte Salmon, travelled to Ireland to take part in a FAM trip organised by Tourism Ireland and Failte Ireland. The Tourism Ireland Annual UK FAM Trip was a fantastic opportunity to meet members of the Irish Tourism Industry and inspect both new and existing venues.
Named as one of the best countries in the world to visit in 2015 by Lonely Planet, Ireland’s stunning landscape and hospitable nature has secured its reputation as one of the globe’s top tourist destinations.
Throughout the trip, Charlotte was given the opportunity to take part in a number of networking events. This included an artisan food event where local suppliers were able to showcase their authentic Irish cuisine and Charlotte was able to try her first (and perhaps last!) ever oyster.
Charlotte also took a ride on an electric bike along Ireland’s famous ‘Greenway’ and learnt how to cook traditional Irish dishes using seaweed. Musicians were on hand each night to show the group how important music and ‘craic’ is in every day Irish culture and walking tours were arranged in both Galway and Dublin, providing a fascinating insight into the rich and varied history of Ireland.
